Lakin
is a town of 2200 people in a county of 4500 and 25 miles from a town of
35,000. The DQ sales has grown considerably over the last 9 years.
According to Bret Graham, “Last year was our biggest sales year ever. I
am thoroughly convinced that it is no small part due to Restaurant Pro
Express and how it makes our job of serving customers easier. ” The
Lakin DQ is a full Brazier™ meaning they serve food as well as ice cream
products. Food accounts for 70% of all Lakin DQ sales.
They use the “time based pricing” built-into Restaurant Pro Express (RPE) to have a happy hour with their soft drink and ice cream cones, Monday through Friday. With their hourly sales report they are able to identify a slow or low period in their sales. They then used the time based pricing feature to create a half price happy hour to build traffic during that low period. DQ has used the “Happy Hour” for a couple of years now and customers actually plan their activities around this time of day. |
| Using RPE, has significantly cut down DQ training time and expense to almost 0. They used to spend hours teaching new employees their shorthand for taking orders. Handwriting issues was always a big problem . Now, with RPE and touch screens, new employees quickly learn the system and walk through the order taking process step by step. They are prompted to ask customers about modifying their meals. Up selling is easy for them because it is part of the customer order taking process. |

| Orders
are printed right in the kitchen allowing even new employees to be
productive from the first time they take an order. The cooks don’t have
to decipher cryptic shorthand or bad handwriting. With all the modifiers
they are able to use with each food item, special orders are not a
problem. Extra pickle, no onions, no problem. It’s all spelled out in
plain language on the kitchen printer.
Ease of learning is a great RPE attribute. “We have one employee in her fifties who made the transition to computerized order taking faster than many of our school aged employees.” “PC America tech support is outstanding. In this time of outsourcing tech jobs to other companies, it is great to talk to someone who knows their product. Other companies give you the feeling that they are just reading from a script.” “Restaurant Pro Express is an amazing product that keeps getting better. PC America makes an effort to really understand your business and really listen to its customers. That’s how you make a business grow.” |
