Hats over Manhattan

Kangol, a famous designer of hats, was started in 1938. They were highly popular for their berets and helmets, and over the years branched into an international company offering styles as diverse as the countries they sold to. For tens of years, Kangol hats have been donned by celebrities in the US and the UK. In 2003, the first Kangol store in North America opened up in New York City.

Hats in hundreds of styles, colors and sizes adorn the walls and tables of the Kangol Columbus Avenue store. Chuck Sternfeld, co-owner of the chic Manhattan outlet, searched for an apparel point of sale system that could help him track sales and place orders. Busy City, Busy Opening

The opening day at Kangol was busy. Business has only gotten better, as word of the first North American Kangol store spreads. "New York is one of the fastest paced cities in the world, " notes Ernie, the other co-owner of the store. "Long lines are flat out unacceptable in a store like ours. One key feature we needed in our point of sale system was speed." There is a bar code on every product in the store, and merchandise can be rung up with a quick scan.
