Setting Up a Receipt Printer to Work with Cash Register Express

1) In Windows 95/98/NT, click on the Start Button, followed by Settings, then Click on Printers

 

2) In the Printers Window, double click the "Add Printer" Icon.

3) This will begin the Add Printer Wizard. You can continue by clicking the "Next >" Button.

 

4) Next you will choose whether you are printing to a local printer or a printer over a Network. The usual setting is "Local Printer".

5) Now you will select the type of printer that you will be using. For All CRE 2004 receipt printers, you will choose "Generic" from the manufacturers and "Generic / Text Only" from the Printers. After you have these selected by clicking on them, Click the "Next >" button.

6) You may be asked if you want to keep the existing printer driver. If you are asked this, make sure that "Keep existing driver" is marked, then click the "Next >" button. If you are not asked this, you will be prompted to insert your Windows CD-ROM.

7) You will then be asked to select the port that your printer will be connected to. Consult the hardware documentation to get this information. After you have selected the proper port by clicking on it, Click the "Next >" button to continue.

 

 
8) Now you will be asked to choose a name for the printer. It is recommended that you leave this alone. You will also want make sure that this is selected as your Windows-Default printer. Click the "Next >" button when you are done.

9) You will then be asked if you want to print a test page when it is finished. You will want to make sure that "Yes" is selected, then click the "Finish" button. Windows may now ask for you to insert your Windows CD-ROM/Disks into the computer.

 

10) After Windows completes installing the software required for the printer to operate, it will print a test page. If the page is readable, click the "Yes" button to confirm proper operation of the printer. Congratulations, You are Done!!!!
