Creating a Gift Registry In Cash Register Express

1. The first thing you will need to do in order to make a gift registry is set up a customer in CRE that the registry will be for.

2. Now from the Customer Maintenance screen you can click the “This Customer” menu at the top or just hit Ctrl+R to bring up the gift registry screen for the current customer.

3. Now you can start adding items to your registry by clicking “ADD” and entering the item number of the item you want to add then the amount of that item would like to place on the registry.  Once you have items on the registry it will look like the figure to the right.  This list can be printed out by simply clicking on the print button on the bottom right.

4. Take note of the Registry ID number.  This ID number will be automatically created when you start a new registry and will be unique for each registry.  You will need to enter this number when purchasing an item that is part of a registry.  The ID number will ensure that the item is marked as purchased from the correct registry.

5. Now that you have your items added to the registry, customers can start purchasing for that registry.  All you have to do in order to apply an item you have purchased to the registry is ring it up normally and while it is highlighted in yellow hit Ctrl+R.  That will prompt the screen to enter the registry ID number.  Enter the Registry ID number and when you complete the transaction that item will be applied to the registry as purchased.  If you have multiple registry items on the invoice you must highlight each one and hit Ctrl+R in order for them all to be applied to the registry.

6. Now that you have purchased that item for the gift registry you can go back into customer maintenance and look at the gift registry and see which items have been purchased and how many were purchased.

This is how the gift registry works.
